Understanding Battery Technology What exactly is AGM Gel (AGM GEL)?

When charging, the solution inside the battery often has a very unpleasant odor and adversely affects the health of the user. Because of those weaknesses, this type of battery is usually only used in outdoor environments such as starting engines, generators, trucks, cars, etc.

- Airtight batteries (AGM VRLA – Absorbent Glass Mat/ Valve Regulated Lead Acid): Perhaps the term "airtight battery" is the most accurate to name this product line (because "airtight" means the gas cannot escape; once the gas cannot escape, the solution in the battery cannot "enter" the battery or "get out" in all different positions). Let's agree on the same name, Airtight Battery. The two positive and negative poles of the products of this line are often designed to be very slim. This is understandable, as this battery is not used for starting purposes but for environments where a stable discharge current is required and the discharge current is maintained for a long period of time. This product line is designed to be very diverse and serve many different purposes. For example, UPS, Inverter, Telecom, Electrical Utilities, Electric Vehicle, Door, Fire Alarm, Security,... Professional manufacturers often divide this product line into specific grades for different uses. For example, with a UPS, it may take a month or more for the UPS to "work" once; however, with electric bicycles or electric vehicles, the battery will have to "carry" its owner for 7 days or 1 week. The working conditions of batteries used for solar systems are similar to those of electric vehicles (their working density is almost a day cycle). If you take a UPS product and attach it to an e-bike, it's really a big mistake. But on the contrary, if you take a battery product designed for electric vehicles and attach it to the UPS, it is a "wise" choice.
