Applications of lightning arresters PVT1 and PVT2:

The equipment of the solar power system (Inverter, Charge Controller, DC box, ...) may already have built-in lightning cutting components, but the lightning current of these available lightning cutting components is slightly lower, so it does not guarantee the protection against lightning transmission for the system. Therefore, it is advisable to increase and equip more lightning protection devices with higher protection to increase safety during system operation.

The PVT1 and PVT2 surge arresters are installed at the DC junction boxes (DC Joint Box) or at the DC inputs of the DC/AC inverters (DC/AC Inverter) of the solar power system.

  • PVT1 PHOTOVOLTAIC SURGE PROTECTION CLASS I+II

The surge protection system protects against the effects of lightning impulses it is essential to use direct lightning protection devices (10/350 s waveform lightning impulse) and surge protection, induction (8/20 µs waveform lightning impulse).

  • PVT2 PHOTOVOLTAIC SURGE PROTECTION CLASS II

The PVT2 surge arresters offer many of the same benefits as the PVT1 series but are specifically designed to conform to the test parameters of the EN 50539-11 Type 1, Type 2 and UL® 1449 Edition 4 Type surge arresters 1 CASE. Because of its Class II/Type 2 classification, PVT2 is used in an inductive surge protection system that allows precise protective lightning protection designs to be realized while keeping project costs down.
